The Dora Bulldogs welcomed in the Fultondale Wildcats on Friday night for homecoming and senior night. The Bulldogs celebrated the final home game of the season in dominating fashion with a 32-0 victory.
Fultondale took the opening kickoff of the game deep inside Bulldog territory to start their first drive with outstanding field position. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, this would pretty much be the highlight of their night as they would ultimately be stopped on downs on the drive.
The Bulldogs would give the Wildcats another opportunity to start deep in Dora territory again after a fumble on the Bulldogs first offensive possession. However, the Wildcats would ultimately suffer the same fate turning the ball over on downs deep in Dora territory. This would pretty much be the theme of the first quarter as Fultondale would use as much time off the clock as possible when they had the ball. The score at the end of the first quarter was tied at zero.
However, the second quarter would be a much different story as Dora would explode for 20 points in the second quarter. Garrett Hogland would complete a pop pass to Mason Stewart who would take it 18 yards to get the Bulldogs on the board. The Wildcats next offensive possession after the score would be fruitful for Dora as Ronald Waldrop would intercept the Wildcats pass and take it back 20 yards to the house to put the Bulldogs up 13-0. Jamarcus Goodmon would cap off the second quarter explosion with a 6-yard run for a touchdown to put the Bulldogs up at the half 20-0.
The Bulldogs would use much of the second half to run the clock and play field position to allow the defense to continue to dominate. Jamarcus Goodmon would run in the only touchdown of the second half and Dora would also add a field goal and safety on the scoreboard in the second half.
Special recognition must be given to the Bulldogs defense and special teams. The Bulldogs defense held Fultondale to 41 total yards of offense including -34 yards rushing. Brayden Williamson and Brennan Davis provided spectacular special teams for Dora as well. Williamson connected on a 29-yard field goal and Davis downed several punts deep inside Fultondale territory including a 62-yard punt.
The defense and special teams would help keep the Dora defense in good field situations the entire night on the way to a 32-0 win on homecoming. The win moves the Bulldogs record to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in region play. Dora will begin a 4-game road stretch to close the season next week as they travel to Ashville for a key region game. Ashville has a 3-3 record on the season but 0-3 in class 4A, region 6 play.
