Wayne Fowler ~ July 11, 1950 – August 3, 2015
Earl Wayne Fowler age 65 of Sumiton, passed away Monday August 3, 2015 at his residence. He was owner of Gobie’s Inc. and was a member of the First Baptist Church ofWayne Fowler Sumiton. Funeral services will be Thursday August 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Ted Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in McCormack Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents J.L. “Gobie” and Navaree Fowler; brothers, Gary and Larry Fowler; and his sister, Connie Barnett. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Gayla Ellis Fowler; son, Ryan Fowler and wife Hope; daughter, Lindsey Berger and husband Alex; grandchildren, Chandler, Nolan, Brody and Makenzie Berger, and, Sage, Ava and Dakota Harper; mother in law, Blanche Ellis; sisters in law, Anita Russell and Connie Thomas; cousin, Tonya Wilson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Richard S. Headrick, 62, of Sumiton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at his residence. The family received friends Sunday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Preston Headrick, the Rev. Tom Salter and the Rev. John Foles will officiate.
He was bruied at McCormack Cemetery.
Headrick was the owner of Green Top Barbecue, a graduate of Dora High School (Class of 1970) and a captain of the Dora Bulldog football team, where he received all-state honorable mention.
He was an outstanding youth football coach and a member of Sumiton United Methodist Church. He was a founding member of the County Line Auburn Club and loved to fish.
Headrick was preceded in death by his father, Leo P. Headrick and his brother, Kenneth Headrick.
He is survived by his mother, Susie Headrick; son, Tony Headrick and his wife, Lee Ann; grandchildren, Ricky Headrick, Katie Headrick and Zac Headrick; brother, Preston Headrick and his wife, J.J.; nephew, Jake Headrick; niece, Jessye Harbor; special friend, Karen Kilpatrick; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Carla Cashman Elgin of Dora High School Class of 1970 passes away May 11, 2020. Carla is preceded in death by her parents, Bo and Carlene Cashman and her son-in-law, Jason Bowers. Benny Ray Bell 49, of Hoover, formerly of Walker County, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Benny graduated from Dora High School in 1975. Benny died suddenly only a few days after discovering he had lung cancer.

DAUGHERTY, BARRY KALE, age 43, of Dora, AL, died November 2, 2003 at his residence. He was a tire store manager with Ross Neely Trucking Company and also served as Captain of the Dora Fire and Rescue Department. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Daugherty. Survivors include his wife, Donna Daugherty of Dora; daughter, Heather Louise Daugherty of Dora; son, Christopher Kale Daugherty of Dora; father and stepmother, William and Marzenia Daugherty of Shanghi; sisters, Patsy Dill (Ricky) of Sumiton, Lisa Clark (Dan) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Judy Daugherty and Tracy Elkins (Barry), all of Shanghi; brothers, Larry Daugherty (Christy) of West Jefferson, Ronnie Daugherty (Jody) of Oak Grove, Tony Daugherty (Cindy) of Warrior, Timmy Daugherty (Tina) of Jasper, and Ray Morgan of Sipsey; and several nieces and nephews. She was previously employed with Hayes Aircraft and also as a photographer with the Daily Mountain Eagle Rhonda WiseNewspaper, The Community News and Dickerson Studios. She was preceded in death by her father, Darrell Wise and her grandparents, Earl and Louise Wise and Sarah Jane Knight. Survivors include her husband, Larry Turman; two daughters, Chelsea Turman and Julian Maleá Turman; her mother, Betty Knight Wise; her sister, Tonya Wilson and her husband Mickey all of Sumiton; a niece, Heather and her husband Craig Washington and their children Anna Reece and Wilson; a nephew, Christian Wilson; her grandmother-in-law, Audrey Turman and aunt and uncle Donald and Peggy Turman; several other nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. William “Cheese” Matthews died in an automobile accident
My name is Marsha Prude. I am a graduate of Dora High School class of 1980. On November 4th 1988 my brother Edward W. Prude Sr., died from his injuries he substance in a construction accident in Tupelo Mississippi. He fell about 20ft off a church roof he was working on. While he was falling, his head hit a concrete wall and he landed on his chest crushing it. Edward graduated from Dora High School in 1979. Would you please add him to the Obituary list. Thank you .
