Wallace Roland Mitchell was a member of the Class of 1968. He served as a medic in the US Army from 1969 to 1972.

Obituary

Wallace Roland Mitchell, age 55 of Tallassee, passed away Saturday night, Oct. 8, 2005, at his residence. He was retired from the Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex in Montgomery. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and a member of the Doric Lodge #406 F&AM in Tallassee.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Mitchell of Tallassee; his children, Lisa Mitchell of Birmingham, Larissa McWaters and husband, Lee, of Dadeville, Phillip Mitchell of Fort Walton, Fla., and David Mitchell and wife, Christi, of Clanton; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Elaine McWaters; brothers and sisters, Wanda Vance and husband, Kenny, Ramona Thornton and husband, Don, Gladys Marie Moore and husband, Rickey, James Mitchell and wife, Diane, and Leo Mitchell and wife, Pat; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Dilworth Church of God Cemetery. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora will direct. Visitation is tonight, Oct. 10, from 6 until 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
